Our Safe Place

Our Safe Place

“Israel goes deeper, and I am called deeper, because Yahweh doesn’t stop halfway.”

All Israel is caught between two towering pillars of foam.

It doesn’t get much worse than this. The gut-wrenching insecurity. I know you see it. The hollow eyes, the frantic grapplings, the search for a safe place. Everybody’s pushing an agenda, and the gullible are the ones who trust. Don’t raconteurs and hippies and novelists and Chinese fortune slips all say the same thing? “You are capable.” “Your family is proud of you.” “You’re on the Road to Success.”
But right now it looks like the Red Sea Road to devastation. Only they can’t see it. They’re stepping out on the dry riverbed with the blind faith that those angry billows won’t touch them. Moses’ staff is still stretched upward, and the waters tremble.
We’re just looking for a secure rock to stand on in all this sucking madness. We can’t be vulnerable. We, the wise and undeceived, must never fall for the agendas.
They’re still walking, like sheep led to the butcher’s block. Cracked soles, heaving torsos, torn sandal straps, a tired, messy generation.

And yet He calls them deeper.
Where’s the honesty when I need it?

It hits like a tidal wave. These vulnerable people are the Chosen Ones, more protected than they’ve ever been. The Red Sea Road is the only road to genuine security. None of the fake stuff here.
Where have I been? The only faith is blind faith, the only divine protection is uninhibited vulnerability.

Get your feet wet.

Israel goes deeper, and I am called deeper, because Yahweh doesn’t stop halfway.
They’re nearing the end. And this is our safe place. Not the shore on the other side, but this very act of audacious trust.
I’ve finally found it. The security I was looking for. But it isn’t a slippery rock; it’s stepping out, into the water, and trusting He’ll part the waves for the Red Sea Road.
